NEWS
2023: Attendance at the disco has been very encouraging since autumn 2022. We had a great night in January 2023. Help to keep the event going by coming along in 2023.
The bar menu is back! So no need to worry about eating before you set out.
Please have the correct £5 payment ready for entry plus a couple of pounds extra for raffle tickets.
Car parking: Don't park directly outside the hall; you may find yourself with a parking ticket and a fine. Use the nearby library car park (free during evenings). It has a walkway past the library building that brings you out very close to the Empire Hall.
Similarly, don’t use the shoppers’ car park opposite. You definitely will incur a huge fine!
DATES AND THEMES
We always meet on the third Thursday of each month. Please note that all dress themes are entirely optional. Many attendees opt not to dress in theme, but we find that many of our regulars do appreciate the opportunity to wear something special. Prizes are awarded each month for the best themed outfits.
Thursday 19th January 2023: Sparkle and Shine!
Thursday 16th February 2023: Valentine: Red and/or Hearts
March 16th: SciFi / Steampunk
April 20th: Disco Divas - 70s & 80s
May 18th: Flappers & Gangsters - 20s & 30s
June 15th: Pride / Rainbows
FACILITIES
Changing facilities are very good; the Ladies loo is spacious and has a wall mirror. We also have access to two small dressing rooms beside the stage for people who prefer privacy. Some of our regulars arrive soon after 7.30 pm in order to get made-up and changed, then change back at the end of the evening. If you plan to do this, do allow time at the end. We like to clear up the venue and leave soon after the 11.30 finishing time.
Some people like to check us out before arriving "dressed" for the first time. It is perfectly acceptable to come in "drab" for your first couple of visits.
SAFETY
The local police LGBT liaison officers are aware of our evenings, and occasionally attend. Hopefully this will minimise the potential for any trouble, and we have never yet experienced any in several years of meetings. We would urge all visitors to dress appropriately. Fetish clothing is acceptable only on the relevant themed nights but even then we will not accept overtly sexual costumes. The Totton Disco is a safe venue; we will not tolerate any predatory behaviour in any form. We are not a dating venue. We will only tolerate single men in male-mode if they understand the nature of this venue as one that is suitable for friends, wives, and partners.
If you'd like to find out more, please e-mail one of the organisers (see the contacts page). We will get back to you quickly with answers to your questions. Alternatively, visit our Facebook page to see some photos and up-to-the-minute information.
OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION
The Brimar Guest House is still welcoming attendees at the disco who wish accommodation nearby. About ten minutes walk. Please try to book well in advance.
